Flat? or SPD shoe conundrum...

Sometimes I like to use clipless pedals, some days I feel like riding flat pedals, all depends where I'm riding.

I have some Specialized BG comp Clipless shoes, which are still functional but getting tired.
I have some airwalk trainers which flex too much and the sole gets shredded by the flat pedals pins.

Ideally I'd like something I could use for Clipless or flat pedals, Shimano AM45 springs to mind but how good are they on flat pedals?
Five Ten shoes get good reviews, but they're for flats only?
Or should I get some flat specific shoes and stick with my specialized Clipless ones until they need replacing?

Anyone have views, opinions, or experience of this conundrum?

I ride dmrs with pins and use thick soled salomon or Columbia walking trainers. The soles grips the pins nicely. If I ride with spds it's road or cx with mo88s I think they are.

Opt for flat :? Theres been a lot of development on flatties over the years, more so than clipless which were, and still are just a rigid sole with a couple of holes drilled through :?

Re:

Well, I've decided to order some Teva Links shoes which are flat pedal specific.
I'll try them with the Wellgo V8 copy pedals I currently have, and see how I get on....

Not saying what you should be doing or using, but I found a massive change when I stopped using wellgo flats and tried one of the more modern pedals. Nukeproof electrons or superstar flats are way grippier IMHO and nicer feel on your feet.

Still have wellgo on a couple bikes but noticeably worse when I hop between bikes!

Re:

I'm on the lookout for some Saint pedals, although CRC have them for £38.99 at the moment, so at that price I may well buy new.

I have some of the pedals that are flat one side and spd the other side, worst of both worlds.
those things are bloody useless, terrible to use as clipless OR flats.
