first ride of 2013

Mine's about to take place on my knackered old kona pub bike. Mainly cos it's got flat pedals and I need to pick up my car from 3 miles away

7.00 this evening Woodhouse Eaves car park on Main Street for a Beacon Hill ride, if anyone wants to join us East Mids folk. Pub afterwards if course.

Despite clear skies and a disturbing lack of hangover, I've had to settle for introducing 2yo daughter to Mary Poppins while i clean and repack cup n cone hub bearings in the living room as SWMBO is at work.
Does that make me the Julie Andrews of RB?

A 15 mile spin from Hassocks to Henfield and back via Ditchling and Burgess Hill - lanes absolutely deserted :) Apart from a sour old c@@t who blanked my Cheery New Year wishes. Mind you he was on a flash Scott Mountain bike :-0

Five miles on the fixed after leaving the car in Brewood. We all then walked along the canal towpath. Very muddy!

The fixed now boasts a 52 x 16 gear. I managed to spin it up to 120 rpm briefly. This works out to about 30 mph. Now to be able to hold that for an hour or so....

Back to work tomorrow so did a couple of miles around the block to see how the lungs are functioning after my annual (it seems) chest infection.

Not too bad, plenty of coughing but better than I thought, will definitely be going on the bike in the morning :) .

Not retro at all, amazed at how well a FS bike and studded tires handles difficult zeroconditions.

My first ride of Twenty-Thirteen was a sunshine-filled one, a true rarity for my little corner of the world. Let's hope this is indicative on things to come :D.

I'm aboard my trusty sole steed; My 95' Specialized Hardrock Ultra - as ever, in winter commuter mode :).

Happy New Year, my fellow RetroFanciers
