Right ... it's been a lot time, searching for a mate. At the back of the barn has been a single, gorgeous FIR gold anodised rim 32H on rear STX. Stainless spokes and brass nipples. It came on one of the C16Rs I bought in the 90's and has been a singleton for many years. OEM on Orange C16Rs, P7s and O2s in the mid 90's. These IMPES FIR rims are now stupidly rare. I finally have obtained a matching rim to make up a front wheel (many thanks Ross). The STX rear hub is perfect, and runs more smoothly than some M900s I have had. Mad but true. The rubber shroud is perfect, no cracks or sagging.

The front has less fade than the rear, but this is not so noticeable that it will be a problem on a build. The front is a slightly later series with the braking lip (see https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/fir-rims.54557/), the rear is a slightly earlier IMPES series with the flush brake walls - and has virtually zero wall wear. Both FIR logos are perfect.

These are eyeleted, light and immensely strong rims. Orange was right to spec them, and in their time they were a genuine rival to the M231. There are various threads on here about them, emphasising their quality. NOS STX front hubs are readily available on here and on eBay. The rear with the front rim will make up into a very distinctive, authentic and rare wheel set.

Asking 110 gbp posted (in UK) for set. Any dibs via PM...

Anyone? I had interest in the rear but people were worried about not being able to get a matching front...well that's sorted now...
