Favorit Czech Bike

'73 (?) Favorit. Still a little final work to do but a running bike without issues. Mostly original equipment (Favorit components, Maillard wheels) except headset (replacing with a more appropriate chrome unit), and possibly bar (unknown, may be OE in-house part) and stem (SR). Solidly built frame with forged dropouts (rear knurled). No rust, but paint is a little beat up (been touched up previously) and was not top quality to start; additional touching up and polishing only. Decals near perfect, and chrome very good. I do not believe cranks are original, but I have OE spares for replacement. Shifting is surprisingly good with proper adjustment considering the push rod front derailleur. I have a frame color matching SILCA pump and bar wrap, and a Soviet Union leather pouch and tools to install.

Thats a cracking bike, love the colour and patina. I have some Favorit gears in my collection and they are well made if a little crude. What grade of steel is the frame made of?

Lovely bike! While Favorits come along fairly regularly in my local classifieds, they are all of the cheap and cheerful variety.

I like those, but this is much, much nicer. Looking forward to hearing more about it and seeing more of it. :)

That is a lovely frame and such nice chrome lugwork.
Looking forward to hearing more as well.
Maybe start a new thread or move this one to readers rides section :)
