"Fat Tire Flyer" goes on sale

Re:

Classic photo for the ages taken at the book signing. Unlikely I could get all these guys to sit still for this again. The bike is mine, known as "Breezer #2."

Wow, is Tom Ritchey Dorian Gray and the rest of you his portrait in the attic? He hasn't aged a day in 30 years..

I received my copy of Fat Tire Flyer yesterday and so far, I'm thrilled. I only had time to flip through the book, looking at all the photos and illustrations and they do not disappoint! Many full-color 1970's photos of the primary suspects involed in the founding of mountain biking as a sport. I also was able to read the chapters up to the point where Charlie Kelly invites Gary Fisher to move into the household that became the HQ for modifying old cruiser bikes into Klunkerz!

Anyone who has read Berto's "Birth of Dirt" or seen Savage's documentary, "Klunkerz" will love this first-person account of the invention of the mountain bike and the modern sport of mountain biking.

Got my copy today!

How did it get to the UK so quickly? Not supposed to be released there for a few more weeks.

I had an email from amazon a few weeks ago saying the release was going to be delayed by a few weeks, which made it all the more surprising when it arrived today!

Anyone with an interest in mountain biking should have this book, well that's my opinion anyway. The collection of photos is superb, and a real tribute to the people who were interested and motivated enough to them in the first place! The text is very concise and detailed, and its going to take me some time to read the whole lot, but simply brilliant. :D

Cheers,
Andrew

Re:

Have been informed that my copy has been dispatched and should be here tomorrow :D

Mine is still saying estimated delivery 21-24 November, which makes me sad.
Obviously if Charlie posts me Breezer #2 to make up for the wait I'll cheer up.
