Bump.
Saw my book for the first time four days ago at the Interbike trade show. I wrote the words and collected the images, but I left the rest in the hands of my publisher Velopress. Whatever I expected was exceeded by a light year. It's the most beautiful, weighty tome I could have ever asked for.
We had about 160 copies to sell at the show. I was cautioned by the experienced hands not to get too excited about selling them all.
Please. These are my people. Watch this.
I rounded up Gary Fisher, Joe Breeze and Tom Ritchey, and over the course of two hours the four of us signed every copy in the building. The queue was so long it snaked through the exhibits and I couldn't see the end from where we sat. People were walking up with armloads of books. When there were no more books to sell there were dozens of disappointed people left at the end of the line.
The next morning the photo of the four of us ran on the cover of the daily show publication. No caption. If you don't know who these people are, it wouldn't matter to you anyway.
Those 160 copies with four signatures will be valuable eventually. It's unlikely this crew could be assembled again for such a moment.
