Fake Pulstar hubs ??

Hi there,

I have some Pulstar hubs in different colors and I have the feeling they are not all the real Pulstar hubs as we know them.
Some are turning very light, the other ones does feel really bad, like the bearings are broken or something.

Does anyone have more experience with Pulstar hubs and their fake ones ?
Maybe a drawing of manual to look inside the hub ?

Re:

Pulstar did many versions of their hubs. The OEM ones were of much lower quality compared to the aftermarket ones. I am guessing the rear hub has a rough freewheel? If so, it is a common problem with Pulstar hubs. The freewheels are bonded on and as far as I know there are no suitable substitutes.

There was a article explaining the downfall of Pulstar on the bikepro website but it appears to be off-line again.

Re:

Well there is someone on this forum selling the same Pulstar hubs as I have bought from eBay:

When I received the hubs, they could not be turned, in each way not easily and I think hubs should turn freely isn't ?
The guy from eBay did send me a new one, but this one is slightly better then the previous one.
This is why I decided to look for a possible overhaul and this is how it turns out to be:

Re:

Lol, thanks
This is why I bought two sets of F+R hub. I had a set of grey hubs, these are very good and really like new. And I have an original purple front hub.

"IIRC they started having the hubs made off-shore. Quality tanked."
What he said. The early Pulstar hubs were pretty nice (the ones made in the USA), the later Taiwan ones were utter crap. So technically speaking, they're not fakes just the later crappy ones.
Looking at the pictures of your hub I wonder whether you could get some proper sealed bearings and press them in instead of that horrid cheapo loose balls and cone setup.
Keep the shell, dump the rest, get proper bearings and maybe a titanium aftermarket axle and done you got a nice Pulstar hub again. The shell seems legit.

Hmm taking a closer look to compare with the original ones (the purple is the original one) with the silver and gunmetal ones, the shell is also different.
The lenght is about ± 10mm wider.
