hi all,

I know it's most probably not a Mantis XCR
It's not a Nishiki Alien ACX eighter
But then, what is it? Fisher? I do have a CR-7 and aside from the elevated chainstay, everything else seems to be the same..

edit: it sports a full XT gruppo btw

Re:

 Looks like the back wheel'd fall off after a short while: is that rear triangle literally held on by hex bolts?!?
I'm wrong though- 'cause it's still going

yes, like the Mantis XCR (and EC) the Nishiki Alien ACX and the Fisher CR-7 (as stated above)
the great Richard Cunningham came out with the idea to bolt together an alloy front to steel back, and the idea worked for a while

They do that all the time with these suspension thingies .
So I can't see a problem.
Better tahn a bit of glue ;-)

My guess is it's a Mantis XCR-EC.

:) yeah, I also thought I found a diamond in the rough, but sadly no
this is not a Mantis frame, several small details are missing, like the gusset/reinforcement on the top and down tube and the cable routing are for sure different

my best guess is, that it's from the same factory the Nishiki came from (the now-defunct Anlun in Taiwan) from the time Derby Cycle Group was Nishiki's owner (1991-1993) but can't figure out the brand name yet
