This Eddy Merckx is a vintage lugged steel road bike with Columbus tubing and a lugged steel fork. The frame also has Campagnolo dropouts. Check out the cool "EM" engravings on the seatstays and the "Eddy" and "Merckx" engravings on the fork lugs. Eddy's face is on the headbadge and seat tube stickers and the frame also has the jaune Tour de France striping and the rosa Giro d'Italia stripe. The bike is currently setup with a mixed 3x6 drivetrain and clincher tires. This bike would make a great addition to some special Eddy fan's collection out there.
This bike is equipped with a Suntour Superbe rear derailleur, Cyclone front derailleur, Specialized flag cranks and rings (50/46/30), Campagnolo side-pull brakes, Avocet Touring II saddle, Campagnolo single bolt seatpost, Campy downtube shifters, Campy brake levers and hoods (some cracking of the hoods from age), Cinelli 66-42 bars, Specialized vintage pedals with toe straps, Mavic G40 rims with Specialized hubs, Specialized quick releases and Specialized Touring 700x28c clincher tires (recommend replacing due to cracking of sidewalls from age).
This bike is being sold AS-IS and as such, it has not been fully tuned. Both derailleurs are fully functional and catch all gears. There is some surface rust on the chain and cassette and a few oxidation spots here and there on the frame (lower lugs and top tube cable bosses, see photos).
With a 58 cm effective top tube and 59.5 cm seat tube (center-to-center), this bike should fit most riders in the 6'0" to 6'3" range.
Asking $1550 OBO.
