In this thread I shall be posting up routes that we have done so that we can refer to them in the future when planning rides. All are available on .gpx if anybody would like them (please PM me).

Further details can be found in the main chat/rides thread here.

All titles are date - distance (miles) - height gain (ft) and the page reference on the East Midlands chat/rides section where others may have made comments and posted photos.

Smisby 12/4/11 18.8m 1173ft anticlockwise P.200. Start point Smisby.

A very enjoyable ride, done on a dry spring evening, no mud underwheel. Tunnel woods was particularly good fun. Lots of riding through the National Forest on well paved/gravelled broad pathways. Possibly busy at any time other than early morning or evening.

Chevin 16.4.11 22.4m 2660ft. P.204. Start point Brailsford.

This is a hilly route that's a bit there-and-back. However it can be tackled in most weathers without too much mud. The downhills on the Midshires Way and the Chevin are great fun, but watch out for golfers and walkers (it is a bridleway however)!

Ticknall 19/4/2011 16m 1396ft. P.206. Start point Ticknall village Hall car park. Anticlockwise.

Done in very dry conditions, this was a great route that includes some sweeping singletrack in Robin Wood, some longish stretches of road, more singletrack down the side of Breedon on the Hill (great fun!) and of course the Tunnel of Fear :shock: .

Ladybower 23.4.2011 (3 Tribes route) 25.3m (this may not be accurate due to gps anomoly at Hope Cross - other sources have it at around 19.5m), 5443ft. Start point Hope. Details here. Clockwise.

This was done on a lovely hot spring day - much more like summer though, around 24 degrees, dry and dusty. It's a very hilly route, but has some tremendously rewarding long descents to make up for the punishing climbs. There is also a cafe (at Fairholmes) and pub stop (at Ladybower House) en route. The track around Win Hill was a bit vague and we walked as it was footpath.

Dry and very dusty conditions, a bit chilly. Taking in XP Valley and the Half Pipe along with some great downhill singletrack in Repton Shrubs and Carver's Rocks.

Smisby 29.4.11 19.4m 1244ft. Anticlockwise. Starting point Smisby village centre.

Another dry day, while everyone else watched the royal wedding, we made our escape! Very similar route to a couple of weeks ago.

1/5/11 Shepshed. 34.7m. 1902ft. Clockwise. Start point Shepshed.

Lovely sunny day, a long route with little height gain over the distance, through bridelways, woods, canalside - a lot of variety - tremendous fun in the sun

3/5/2011 Southwell. 20.1m. 993ft. Start point layby between Caythorpe and Hoveringham beside the river.

This was an interesting route taking in some lovely country roads and gentle countryside with fine views right over to Newark, passing the front door of Southwell Minster and on this occasion involved some cattle herding :shock:. The final descent was fun - but very very corrugated and those of us riding rigid had our fillings rattled .

Ticknall 17.5.2011. 10.1m. 897ft. Anticlockwise. Start point Ticknall village hall car park.

Nice short spin through the woods and over some fields. Shouldn't take more than 1.5hrs at a very leisurely pace.
