Early 80s Simplex RD recommendation

I've just acquired a 1982 Peugeot PKN10. The original rear mech I'm sure would have been a Simplex, but in the case has been replaced which by all accounts was a wise thing to do.

However seeing as the point of the exercise is to have a "vintage" bike, I want to have a correct period/model a part as I can... BUT it seems many of the Simplex mechs are rubbish. So I want to try and get something appropriate and authentic, but usable and not daft £.

After trudging through lots of scanned-in catalogues, it looks like 531-tubed bikes in 1982 had S061, SLJ550, SLJ (no number) and SX610 RDs.

So before I put up a WANTED ad, I want to make sure I'm gunning for the "right" component but one that isn't going to fall apart. Hilary Stone has a SLJ5500 and 6000 for sale and it might be worth my while just going for one of those, although the 6000 might be a bit young. Unlike me.

Any Francophiles with an opinion?

Ta.

If you can get a good used, or NOS Super LJ you won't go far wrong. The aluminium RD's are better but harder to find than the Delrin (Plastic) and in my experience the shifting of the Super LJ is superb.

I'd say the SX610 best fits that description, though the SX410 was catalog spec. SLJs are undeniable nicer but attract a preimum for it.

I am surprised in general that despite being mass market and ubiquitous animals, Peugeot parts can be quite hard to come by.

Does the SX have the plastic parts that everyone is so disparaging of?

I think the bad press around the Simplex plastic was mainly to do with the front SLJ derailleurs cracking at the mounting bracket, its easy to overtighten them.
