Early '70s Gitane Country CX (tentative build thread)

I was going to take a frame there a while back, still might at some time. Good to hear they do a good job.

A mate of mine has a Gitane with the Huret rear dropouts but in a yellowy green colour. I've suggested he shows it here so keep ypour eyes peeled!

The mate definitely should... I love those dropouts.

And she’s back from the powdercoaters and has decals fitted.

Too impatient to wait until it’s light to take decent photos...

Now begins the hard part of cleaning up almost fifty year old Mafac Criterium brakes and Stronglight 93s :roll:

Nice shade of Green. Do they call that a 'Flamboyant' or a 'Metal flake' finish?

Wow! Looks fantastic. Eagerly awaiting the rest of the build. Perhaps you might even get the cyclocross outer chainring guard for the Stronglight 93? There is one on Ebay now, but not cheap.

They call it "candy" but it's the same effect I think.

They're great aren't they? They are by Greg Softley of cyclomondo.net. He's in Australia so the postage is a killer and they aren't cheap but they are really good quality and he is super-helpful - which is a good thing as you may have noticed my deliberate mistake in locating the seat tube decal too low!!!
