Don't I feel like the collossal loser..

Hey all,

Been a while since I've been on here, but I'm just picking up the pieces to my own little hell.

I had a house fire and lost everything, including my Barracuda website (formerly at www.barracudabicycles.com). I was hosting this out of my basement and well, the server melted. Good news, I saved all my bikes!

Anyhow, I'm trying to look for files from my website, and on the web, one method someone suggested for recovering files was to ask viewers to search their cache. Long shot, I know, but I have to try.

If anyone is able to find ANYTHING at all in their cache I'd sure appreciate it. The Barracuda history was dodgy as it was and my site was pretty much the only compiled website devoted to keeping all that information publicly available.

Anyhow, thanks to anyone and everyone for looking at this and perhaps looking through your computers also..

Best,
Mark (DigitalKreation)

Wow, that is bad luck. Had a similar but not as tragic experience with my website www.parkpre.com like your Baracuda site the only source for information on the internet. My PC was zapped by a power surge and I lost everything. I had to download the files from the web via FTP to get the site back on my PC so I could edit it.

Best of luck with your search. How about the site that lets you look at website as they were a few years back? Sorry, cannot think of the URL or website name. ^^ that's the one ^^

 sorry to hear about that, cant think of anything worse than loosing everything in a fire!

Google cache is blank for me too. Cached on the 9th Feb 2010. I wonder if you could contact Google for an older cache snapshot?

Hey Mark,

Sorry to hear about the fire. Was wondering what happened to you and your website! Good to hear you managed rescued your bikes though!

Unfortunately, since you didn't have any kind of back-up, off-site being the best, I don't think you'll have much luck getting that info back.

How bad is the hard drive from the server? Is it completely melted? You might be able to bring it to a data recovery place and have them take a look at it. However, that kind of work costs mucho mola.

"don't i feel like a collossal loser"

consider yourself a winner as you saved the bikes.

good luck with the site, again.

:)

I was a regular visitor to the site and enjoyed the grass roots style of it. I used to have an A2X and hope to own one again (most likely with the help of www.barracudabicycles.com ). Unfortunately my hard drive died about 5 weeks ago and had a new one installed so nothing of the site is on it.

As an incentive/reward for people to find info to get the site up and running again, I’ll send them a set of purple anno bars* with the Barracuda logo on it to the most helpful contribution.

*They are flat bars, not new, with a few cosmetic marks but are structurally sound.
