Retro Newbie
Hi all, a newbie here, really hoping someone can help me out.
I recently bought a very tired raleigh road ace (1987 - Shimano 600 groupset) - reliving my youth possibly. Have completely stripped and de-rusted, degreased, cleaned everything with the intention to try to get it back to its glory.
Sadly, when removing the bearings from the Shimano 6sp FH6208 freehub, I had the bright idea of popping out the dust covers to clean the races thoroughly. All the other hub dustcaps came off beautifully, but the one covering the freehub side just cracked and broke into a few pieces. I'm blaming the ancient UV-damaged plastic, but I know it was probably just heavy handedness on my part.
I've been searching everywhere, but I can't seem to get one of these covers anywhere. That seems to leaves me with the option of buying a new/old complete freehub at at least £50 just for the sake of a little piece of plastic.
Anyone got any thoughts or suggestions that might help out?
Cheers in advance for any assistance.
