I've never been into mountain bikes, been a road man all my life....but fancied having a bash at some trails etc now I'm based in the Peak, so threw this together. You'll probably be appalled at the new gear on an old frame, I would NEVER do this on any of my road bikes! But any info on the frame would be appreciated...

Hey, thats not bad!

Like the flipped stem too - thats what I have on one of my new school rides :D

Looks alright to me.

Seen quite a few older road frames with new kit on - look great IMHO. Some of the older steel road frames can still cut it, colnago have just started making the master in all steel again, merckx still do steel, the list goes on.

Nice.

Never was keen on the Red Fire's though I have to admit.

I don't know exactly, but I'd put that frame at around 1996/7. Wishbone and normal non extended dropouts puts it later than the early/ mid nineties frames and the decals and frame shape (more upright less extreme slopey) put it pre-late nineties frames.

Anone care to elaborate on/ crush my guestimate with fact?
