i have been wondering if it would be possible to get some thumbshifters for my stumpy.i'm running an sram x-9 rear mech, shimano lx triple front mech.i just fancied the simplicity of thummies compared to my sram x-7 triggers.thanks for any advice in advance!!! :D

You can buy adaptors to fit downtube shift levers on - but I'm not at all sure you'll get them to index with your rear mech - so the answer is 'yes' but you may need to go for friction shifting.

Pauls have just started fabricating mounts for sram bar end shifters

But I can't remember if you get them in 9spd

I tried fitting Dura ace thumbs shifters with the Pauls or similar maker mounts way back when i joined this site. Couldn't get them to work 100% so sold them and fitted XT-R under bar levers :x

And campy for a bit of italian flair. You wont be able to use the sram tt500 or tt900 bar end shifters with a shimano mech as it wont index cos the sram has special cable pull for its top end rear road bike mechs.

thanks everyone!!!i do like those pauls thummies.and those shimano ones are great as well. :D

the pauls ones- you just buy the suitable mount (shimano, campag or sram specific) then add your shifter of choice. the shifter on the left picture is some campag one and the one on the right is a sram tt500 (only works with FORCE RIVAL or RED rear mechs)
