Im just going through all this myself. you can use a cycling accident no win no fee solicitor like wiggle legal etc. its a long old process as with all insurance things.
They will take a percentage of what you get from the other parties insurer.
You have to send them medical reports etc including physio etc
pictures of damage to you and your bike/clothing
get the bike and clothing looked at at a bike shop to get a damage quotation as evidence of cost to put it all right.
you will also go for a medical examination organised by the solicitor company to access your injurys. for this its a good idea to keep a daily pain diary asap of what herts and how bad the pain level is,what makes it worse and how its affecting your daily life and mood etc as the medical examiner will ask you how long it took for each injury to calm down/repair. also how long you were taking medications for, medical dates, pysio dates and records.
The examiner probably wont look at the pain diary but its just good for jogging your memory of what happened when once your due to go for a medical you can just look though it and write down a shorter version of pain timelenghts etc to give to them.
you will also may be offered physio by the drivers insurer which is also a good idea to take the offer on as its extra evidence.
also keep recipts for any medication you've payed for, fuel etc as you can claim for that too
all this evidance will be collected and evantually put forward to the drivers insurer allong with a value to settle the case.
if the bike is your main transport then you need to definatly claim for cost of taxis etc to get around.
hope this helps
