Wasn't the FD-M953 the part number for exactly what you're after.
The low pivot M950 series wore really quickly too and you'd struggle to get on the inner ring without some very difficult fettling. M953 didn't have this problem, providing your frame design has the room.
No, I don't think they did, I think if you needed a high clamp then M900/901 were still available till the M953 in 99.
I like matching mechs too, it's why my Heckler has M737 instead of M950, the front mech just doesn't fit.I don’t think they did either mate but I’m hoping I’m wrong.
My ocd won’t take a M950 groupset with a different front mech. I’m gonna end up going full M900 and I didn’t want that
