DeKerf Implant - What Forks?

I have a 2002 DeKerf Implant which I bought to replace a Yates I had that was just a bit too stiff at the back (phnar).

I built the Implant up with some Pace forks and a decent 3 x 9 set up. I rides well, but it's too heavy, so I was going to sell it, but I've since had a change of heart and I'm now planning a winter refit, changing the 3 x 9 to 1 or 2 x 10, putting smaller disc rotors on, slimming down the other components and finding some lighter suspension forks.

I have no idea what travel the Implant is designed for, as it's 2002 I guess around 80mm.

So, suggestions for a suitable fork that is available and won't break the bank.

Re:

I thought the Team SL of the time was designed for a 100mm fork and that the Implant was the tougher longer fork model. Current Team SST is still corrected for 100mm and current Implants are 120mm.

Re:

OK, that sounds good; so what 100mm forks would anyone recommend, or has THM got it in one.

As James mentioned...I thought they were designed for 120mm forks. I would look out for Magura Durin SL's (but they may break the bank unless you get lucky)

Re:

What Pace forks were they? I thought they would have been pretty light anyway?
Maybe look for some RS Sid forks? Known for being light.

Re:

Early Implants were based around 100mm forks and later are 130mm. I'm not quite sure when the change happened, but you could check early Dekerf websites via the WaybackMachine.
I run 100mm forks on mine which are perfect for Surrey. I did run 130mm forks originally but climbing suffered. Certainly 100mm feels enough for my needs, and still gives a 13" BB height.
Don't faff around with Sids or other spindly light forks; get something reasonably Butch. Revelations or Pikes, Magura Menja , Laurin, Durin or Thor would be ideal and still only 1600-1700g. You don't want the front end giving up before the rear gets a chance to do it's stuff...
DT Swiss EXM, XMM, XMC would also be ideal.

Re:

Great advice, thank you.

In it's previous incarnation it weighed 12.9kg, so I'm looking to lose at least a kilo, as once stripped, the frame really isn't that heavy.

I shall start fork hunting.

EDIT: I just looked up the 2002 Implant, and it's built for 100mm forks.
