Forget, XC, Enduro, Downhill and Gravel, Cream tea cruising is where it's at.
The question is, does the cream or the jam go uppermost?

Trick question, obviously jam on top - after parking said bike in a sunny spot near the thatched cottage on the mill pond where it can be best admired whilst stuffing face with clotted cream. I live in Dorset.

Re: Dawes Ranger - Respray & new build

It was a bit of a mixture as original stuff was pants and cranks had to be cut off.

Re:

Crikey man, you came a long way for a respray. Rourkes are right on my doorstep and they always produce quality paint.

Bike looks great. You will find 85% - 90% of those original parts if you can pick up a muddy fox courier from around 86ish. You may not want to buy another bike but we all know on here it’s just what happens.

Enjoy it

Re:

No doubt your powder coat was cheaper. When I had my orbit done there it cost £125 for a full strip respray and lacquer. When I say orbit I mean racer. Would still like to get my hands on a mtb by them

Re: Dawes Ranger

According to the comments in ' Making Tracks ' magazine from 1986 the Ranger was well known
for its motorbike impressions ! I mean that in the lowest gears the chain would rub on the knobbly
sidewall of the tyre , and if you were really lucky , the chain would jam between the chainstay
and the tyre !

So watch out for the chainline as you build your frame up

On a brighter note the 531 frame was highly regarded at the time and the bike was often improved
by fitting higher spec components

On the money...in fact I'm tempted to buy them to replace the ones I stupidly sold when I took my Ranger to bits years ago (the frame is still hanging up). Hopefully the OP will press buy it now before I do.
