Daniel Salmon Crimped Special...

Hi all,

Just picked up this Daniel Salmon with crimped tubing (main tubes, chainstays and seat stays) - not sure on what the tubing is but it's got a nice "ting" to it. The back tyre to seat tube clearance is miniscule and that's with a 23mm tyre.

Components are a mix of Shimano 600 Tricolour and low end Campag, all in poor condition.

Anyone have an idea what year this is likely to be? Are the straight forks any indication?

With an approx. year I can choose something age related and suitably exotic to hang off it!

Cheers.

By 'eck, that back end's tight! Do you have to deflate the tyre to get the wheel in and out? And the front fork rake is very short too. I bet it's a bit twitchy on the road.

The back wheel is a real tight fit! To be honest I've only given it a quick test ride but it feels pretty good to me - I'll give it a longer ride this weekend.

otherself - thanks for the interesting link - they're both a good match, must be from the same time period, my frame has 130mm rear spacing so I'd like to think it's from the early 1990's - and it would look good with Dura Ace 7400 - very stylish! It's a pity there are a few paint defects but I don't think I can justify a respray at the mo.

Your bike needs some salmon decals. I guess they won't be easy to source.
