Cycling Literature from the past - what do you read?

I visited my local library recently who had a little bicycle literature display on. I noticed a book by Albert Winstanley, who was a local writer (Bolton). Great reading - not mtb orientated, it's more 1930's - 1990's "golden era" type writing and also seems to cross over to local history & nature writing. Worth checking out (3 books: "The Golden Wheels of.....", "Golden Days Awheel", and "Owd Tom".

Whilst reading more about Albert I found another local writer, Charlie Chadwick.

Some amazing accounts on there, considering he was riding single speed on 1920's/30's roads. eg, Bolton to Scarborough in a day (135 miles)

I also started reading about Frank Patterson, famous for his cycling sketches evocative of the era.

Anyone into this kind of stuff?

Great link, I'm sure I remember the name from Rough Stuff Fellowship magazines over 20 years ago - very enjoyable reading even if it does make me feel guilty for reading more than riding!
