I was unlocking my bike from outside Leeds library today and this was locked next to it. At first I thought someone had stole the rest :)

They aren't the best pics because I was in a rush..

The owner was standing by and says full bikes are too bulky :D

Just out of interest - why a brake? The cranks are direct drive, aren't they? So what's the thinking? Would it be for descending hills / inclines?

No idea about the UK, but over here they need it by law. Technically a unicycle is considered a bike, and hence has to be equipped with a brake on each wheel ( ) if you want to ride one on a public road.

A lot of fixies don't seem to be troubled by that - some don't seem to have any, some just on the front.

I think the Mountain Unicycle (Muni) crowd apreciate some braking on steep descents to save their knees and to help lock the wheel for bunnyhops etc. Serious Muni riders are up there with the more conventional trials guys !

You can even get 2 speed hub gears but you need to be stationary to change gear, Schlumpf make them and they are not cheap !!!!!

If i'm not mistaken i think this is the kid from the bike hire gaff infront of Sale Marina, think he done the blackpool run on it, i know he does uphill on it and overtakes.
