Superlight tyres (300g), super light tubes (100g), no QR skewers (allen key), light hubs (XT level with Cro-Mo axles), 1 x 7/8/9 w/ SS road mech and road cassette may do it.

What's the frame and fork weight to begin with?

Next time I get to the garage it’ll be repaint time.
I’m going to take inspiration from this, and do red fade into black




The Vetta saddle is quite worn and I’ve got some red leather… that’ll be nice. And I think I’ll go for 3dv use seatpost black stem and p2 forks with custom decals. Hopefully wheels coming on Thursday

Cheers mate. Hopefully my Monday relace wheels with different rear hub and get first layer of paint on with a paint gun never relaced a wheel before so let’s hope I’m good at it, no truing stand so get out the forks in a vice

I got thinking, I don’t like the exage headset it’s got and the bearing cages have snapped in there anyway…

So I was wondering if I could have a 1” threaded campy headset? I’m not sure if a road headset would fit in mtb though. I think the nice shiny look and the smooth lock nut would look nice against black…

Necessity is the mother of invention, go for it. If you balls it up take it to a wheel builder, at least you will have tried. Stuff to be learnt just trying.

Try SJS they had Tange sealed headsets a while ago, I bought a couple and they're lovely. About £24 posted.
