Custom 1993 kona fire mountain

Sort of have a plan:

Front and rear mechs: shimano 1056 3 speed front

Dia compe ss5 levers and cantis I’m not sure about.

Light stem, seatpost and bars.

Already have a vetta sl titanium saddle sorted pending my payment

Foam grips. Some 3dv details. White cable housing.

Panaracer Mach ss tyres. May have some sorted.

Wheels will be the problem. I need exage hubs on maybe some mavic 231’s or catalogue bonty rims.

Does anyone know the size of the seattube and seatpost on a kona like this? @mk one

Just gonna make some orders

The LD takes a 26.4 post, an unusual size but there are posts out there. One of the reasons I have a lot of USE posts and shims :)

Not sure on the FM sizing though.

I don’t have the bike with me but remembering the colours I think it’s a fire mountain. I’ll probably repaint it and go to catalogue spec

Gave the parts a bit of a clean up. Rear mech is looking shiny but left thumbie has a worn logo and doesn’t feel right. Will take the frame to the paint shop to get colour matched and then I’ll repaint the whole thing. I’ll cut out decals from paper and glue them on and then laquer them over, I think thatll work hopefully. Those bars were a pain to get out. Had to get circlip pliers and pry the stem open. Regreased the bb and need to get new headset bearings because the bottom cage has snapped into pieces.

Following this, 987 canti's if you can get them.. To go with the SS5s.
Found a serial number yet?

Try some posts if you have them, Kona's can be an arse around this time as people damaged the Q/R area from over tightening, wrong post size etc.

(as above, why I also have a use and some shims to find sizes and a quick fix).
