Unlikely. Even then, the internal depth was less than 1/4 of an inch. There wouldn't have been much grip.

Possible, but it would have to be a press fit and there isn't much depth to hold anything. But what would the top one be for?

I did wonder, sprint carrier or Adie lamp bkt. Don't think it's a raquet holder either.

I cannot see how they could carry loads of any weight.
To my uncultured eye the top one was for hooking/looping/hanging something on and the bottom one was some sort of resting place. Even then there would have to be some additional means of securing whatever it might have been.
Whatever they are for they were never used on any sort of regular basis because the paint surrounding them was pristine.
I may be wrong - it has been known!

I have trawled through the various Holdsworth sites, and whilst frames/bikes numbered close to this are mentioned, with photos , there is nothing about this bike or even anything similar. Shouts out that it was a special order from the original purchaser.
