Cougar by Terry Dolan

Retro Newbie
Just been tidying my garage over xmas and came across my old Cougar in dashing pink and yellow. The Cougar has a Cinelli frame, mainly Shimano 105 parts - I updated the bike last year and put Shimano Sora shifters. I think I need to reduce the number of bikes I have. I also have a Pinarello Lonviso in Blue/Yellow and recently bought a Bianchi B4P. Offers considered for my Cougar :(

Photo now attached. I have had the bike for 3-4 years during which time I have sympathetically (I think!) made a few updates.

Hope you like it.

Oh no, the dreaded Cinelli Splash tape!

Nice frames Cougars, I know someone who has one gathering dust somewhere. His is a much more subdued metallic raspberry though.

Sent a note to Cinelli today and they reckon Terry Dolan just used one of their bottom brackets but built the frame.

That would be right. Frame is probably Reynolds or Columbus tubes, the stickers on the seat tube and fork look like Reynolds to me. The Cinelli bottom bracket shell marks it out as a quality frame. Does it date from the late 80s/early 90s?

I can just about make out that it's Reynolds 653. Paint job reminds me of my old Brian Rourke 753, except that for pink bits substitute red bits. Blue and dayglo yellow almost identical though.

Thanks. Just been to garage and it's got Reynolds 653. I believe it is late 80's - not sure why!

That sort of paint job was fashionable then and couldn't be all that much earlier if its 653. I think Graham Weigh was advertising similar frames in Cycling?

Looks like a nice frame, what size is it?

Just had a google for Graham Weigh and came across this link on ebay

Looks very similar. The bike measures 56cm from mid crank to top of seat tube (54cm to middle of top tube). I am just under 6ft and fits me fine - better still if i lost weight
