Cookbros Crank spider

Hi, I'm new around here . I have some ugly and old Cook cranks. An acquaintance has recommended me to bring them back to life and anodize them again. But it is impossible for me to remove the spider. I have removed screw and washer. but I can't remove it. and I'm afraid to force and break. any ideas ?

I have read that it's not advisable to remove or try removing the spider, the drive side may become damaged by the attempt. The spider is pressed on as part of the manufacturing process on some models. The screw and steel pins in the back are for extra assurance it will stay tight and never rotate. I think some models may come off easier than others.

100% do NOT try to remove it. You wont get it back on securely without specialist equipment and skills to do it etc. It has been done but the person had all the aforementioned. These can just all be reanodised in one go and/or the crank arms possibly masked off to reanodise the spider a different colour. Post up pics of the cranks as some of the early rare variants are $$$s and people want originality with patina for a special build.

Gently but not difficult to remove. Putting it on will be just as easy.

He did not heed the warnings, uh oh. But he seems confident. Very exciting, I love this. Will it go back on?

Specialist tools needed it is said, but are there any tools more specialist than wonder drug 40 and a hammer?
