Colnago: Mexico or Master

Hey all

I'm a complete newbie to vintage bikes so please forgive me if I am asking stupid questions. I did try and do some research but couldn't find the answers..

Is this a Mexico or Master frame?
What headset do I fit? Italian/British/French thread?

Thanks

Looks more like a Super? Lack of quattrofoil downtube eliminates the Master I believe?

If forks are original, then you'll require an Italian threaded headset.

not sure, top tube looks crimped a la mexico in top picture

I was always told italian & english headsets are identical, & ive certainly transferred the same h/set between the two - only french is different

Headset - my bad - English and Italian are near identical the only difference is 55 vs 60 degree thread angle and are readily interchangeable. You'll struggle to find an Italian threaded headset too.

I'd say ca. 1982 Mexico. Crimped top tube rules out Super, but otherwise it is almost identical in appearance. The sloping fork crown came in around then, but there was some variability. I think the Mexico tubeset is a bit thinner/lighter than the standard Columbus SL on the Super.
Any non-French thread 1" threaded headset should be fine; just check the stack height before shelling out a pile of cash on a NOS period-correct Campag one.
