Retro Newbie
Just completed this Summer - Colnago Carbon Volo (198 which was Colnago's first full carbon composite frameset and as far as I can tell was basically a production prototype for the C35 released in 1989. It's a monocoque frame with internal cable routing and integrated seatpost binder.
This one has paint by Carlo Dossena and still has the original owner's signature on the top tube - Ottaviano Frugeri, who's son still runs Frugeri Cicli near Cambiago.
I actually found it on an Italian Fixie/Fixed forum, completely debadged with a loose bottom bracket shell but otherwise in good condition.
Having bought it, the guys at Carbon Bike Repair in Surrey did an amazing job rebonding the original bottom bracket shell, rebadging and top-coating the frameset.
The build details as follows:
Headset: Campagnolo C-Record
Stem: 3TTT Record with engraved old-style logo
Handlebar: 3TTT Competizione 42cm
Bar Tape: Colnago embossed grey tape
Brake Levers: Campagnolo C-Record Powergrade (white hoods)
Brake Calipers: Campagnolo C-Record Delta (3 pivot with Colnago and Tricolore Italia panto)

Brake Cables: Campagnolo C-Record (pearl white)

Cranks: Campagnolo C-Record (first gen. with engraved logo)
Chainrings: Campagnolo C-Record (52-41t)
Bottom Bracket: Campagnolo C-Record
Pedals: Campagnolo C-Record with C-Record adjustable toe clips and grey embossed Colnago straps
Rims: Campagnolo Shamal
Hubs: Campagnolo C-Record
Hub Skewers: Campagnolo C-Record
Tyres: Hutchinson whitewall tubulars
Saddle: Selle San Marco with Colnago logo
Seatpost: Campagnolo C-Record (engraved logo)
Seatpost Binder: integrated to frame with Campagnolo binder bolt
I have had quite a few retro bikes, and still have an original Mercatone Uno Team bike from 1998 and a 1996 Team lampre Colnago C40 but this is the only time I really felt the need to share a bike with the cognoscenti as it is so unusual and I really spent some time and effort on the build. I have/do ride it but tbh only in the dry. And its heavy - I will try to get a full-build weight when I can.
If you have anything to say I'm happy to hear it, apart from any spelling/grammar mistakes - I'm dyslexic.
