Clicking, creaking headset...

It's sometimes hard to make the bike make this noise. It's like a click around the headset area. Could it be that the race ring on my forks isn't quite on properly?

Your race sounds cracked - remove the top and bottom races and replace with new bearings well greased into the cups only.

i had a high end aluminum headset. it would creak and click no matter how i adjust it. got a tange steel. 40gr more, problem solved.

To be honest, it only clicks when I lets say grab the bike by the seat and shake it.

I can live with it until I get a Chris King but will it damaged the frame at all?

Tried changing the sealed bearings, seems to click but a lot less. I noticed yesterday it didn't click after changing stem but after the night it started to click.

I can deal with this until I can take it to a shop to install a King, but will it damage the frame in the meantime?

what frame is it? why a King? why not a cane creek, fsa, tange etc..? unless there is a load of money burning a hole in your pocket you don't need a king.

It's a Specialized M2.

Why the King? Because it's a high quality headset with a lifetime warrenty that I can just forget about after it's installed.

I've had a King before and just had a good no hassle experience with them.

I've a decent H/s for sale, nothing like a CK of course but it never clicked or creaked for me

sure its the H/S,sound travels up the tubes giving you a false impression of where the sound is coming from.
My last saddle clicked something awful, sure its not that or the cranks.

Easy solution-strip the entire bike clean and rebuild ;)

If that's the case have you checked the seatpost/saddle?
