Cheap chinese bits.

Re:

Loverly to look at and fiddle with though :D I will install and give a right good squeeze or two! Just have to resort to my feet as I did as a kid when I couldn't afford new brake cables! :D

Wow, those black levers look incredibly thin, id be surprised if they dont flex when there is a small breeze.

Re gub post, got one on my most dh oriented bike and not had issues ...... yet. Btw that type of clp is not to be used with carbon fibre rails,

Bought this GUB seatpost for a giggle as it's 206g. It's really nicely made! I'll let you all know when I get the remnants surgically removed :D Have ordered some brake levers as well as they look cool. Hey they are cheap enough to try?

I bought one of these just to use in my frame while I clamped it in the stand for the initial build.........does seem ok, but the color is off [trying for all silver metal on the specialized M2 stumpy] so I procured a silver one vs the gray

Re:

Mines an M2 stumpy aswell. Mine came silver and very happy with it compared to the original Ritchey, where the saddle clamp kept slipping, causing massive pain in the groin when I was on a ride. :(

Ok. My other chinese experiment arrived today! :D Probably a death wish waiting to happen! Look lovely and nice to look at. Will let you know my reviews.....if I'm still alive to tell the tail! :D

I have a set of those, rode them hard for a couple years. Yes they do flex, but it's not bad with a decent set of v-brakes.

With a flexy set of v-brakes it's a different story, plan ahead for when to slow down.

Thanks all for posting - I'm enjoying this thread. It seems so far no one died from fitting cheap chinese bits. That being the case my next build is likely to have quite a high cheap chinese bits content. Although it's probably going to have quite a high what I found in the shed content too...

...keep 'em coming. :)

Haven't tried them yet! :(

Re:

Yes after this year he has plenty! :D OK let's be positive, at the end of the day most of the Items we buy are made in China. No doubt made in the same factory's as the big boys. The brake levers are a direct copy of the Ultralite levers sold for over $100 a few years ago. I'm confident plasters won't be necessary. :D
