Ok, where do we stand on carbon cranks? I need a set with shorter arms and have my eye on one for a good price. I'm dubious as to its heritage, seller says it came off a carbon Chinese framed bike. It's unbranded. It will have an easy life, not even to be used by myself, but on a bike I'm building for my wife to use when we go riding with the kids. Worth the risk?

I would. They have had enough practice and experience manufacturing for the western world. Everything we buy today is made in China, but us westerners are simply putting the profit on to pay their wages. Paid £17.50 today for a battery charger from my local motor factor. Made in China with poor English on the box. Bet it only cost a couple of quid to make.

Been using sram truvativ carbon cranks for a while, but then these are branded. The most common fault i see on these is the alloy threaded insert for the pedals come lose.

Didnt realuse there were unbranded ones around.
