Cheap chinese bits.

Another cheap chinese bit. £20 for the carbon bars. 144g vs 221 g for the specialized alloy.

Bonus is the light lime flouro green colour is perfect match with other parts. I was disappointed when i got outbid on a set of s-works bars but then did save £30 odd quid. :)

Look to be well made, time will tell how good they are but as it is 3rd chinese carbon bars i have and the other two show no sigbs of failure then it may be good.

Btw, carbon bars now go for £12, crazy price compared to £100 easton ec90.

Levers fitted! They look cool and feel good! Given them a reet good squeeze and no flex or breakage......yet! :D

I wouldn't feel comfortable using cheapy carbon bars off road that could be very painful. On road wouldn't be as bad.

I wouldn't feel safe using carbon bars full stop. And yet I'll trust my teeth to 20+ year old aluminium bars I don't know the provenance of. Go figure.

They are, in all probability, made, if not from the same moulds, at least using exactly the same techniques as $MAJOR_BRAND carbon bars.
 
No likey carbon bars, why? My first set bought around 2000 for gary fisher, used frequently, then became the daily commute for a few years so got even more use. Still going strong.

If carbon bars were prone to failure, wed hear about it on internet.... and yes im aware of carbon failure website but most of the fails, mainly frames, are crash damage.

Yes, but what we do hear a lot about is faked products and Chinese fake products at that.
The fake Chinese products are known because theyre cheaper. 1+1=2.
If you buy cheap, and it's from China, then logic dictates you'd be more likely to be smashing your chin on the road than not.
 
My own fear of carbon bits is pretty much irrational. Rationally, I know they are likely far safer than that set of alloy bars that might have been crashed and mistreated, those steel forks that might be rusted to bits, leaving a micron of steel and the chrome plating, etc.

A chinese unbranded bar is probably as safe as a major brand one. A fake branded bar, perhaps less so. They all come out of the same factories, after all.

Another cheap chinese part, a carbon seatpost. 188g vs 302g.

Had to shorten one bolt or it would bottom out when getting the correct saddle angle, also front bolt can only be adjusted from the top so a saddle with a slot has to be fitted.

That one because it has layback and UD matte finish is more pricey at £22. I was prepared to pay over the odds to avoid garish logos that seem to be in fashion.
