Chain skip

OK, I have been out on my alpinestars build and i'm getting chain skip under load. I have checked the gear shifting and its spot on. I checked the rings and rear sprocket and they look ok too, not much wear at all. Chain length is fine but i'm wondering if it's compatible. Could this be the cause? I think it's a sram but it came out of my parts box so i'm not exactly sure what it was for. Any help appreciated and here's the build thread.

do you know everything is perfect for a fact?

Middle rings often get shagged first, chains stretch and cassettes wear out - replace cassette and chain then call me in the morning...

You may want to go round your chain and check for over tightened links, they can also become stiff through dirt and or age, if youre lucky it might just be a stiff link, go round the chain and work each link to make sure its moving freely, if you find one thats tight sometimes you can flex it free, other times a link extractor may be needed to free up the link a bit, hopefully this is just your issue and is an easy fix!

I have more rings so i will give those a try if swapping the chain doesn't work. The cassette is m737 and the rings are dx sg rings. Will these work together or do I need different rings?

Thanks for the pointers, I will check al the stuff suggested.

I have the same issue with my Kili Comp; rings, chain and cassette are all brand new but gear changing is such a nightmare I had to switch to friction mode on my XT thumbies!

LGF asked if I had enough 'float' on my derailleur jockey wheels, probably because you can see from the photo's in my build thread that I've replaced them with purple ano wheels...

...I haven't; and I have to admit I haven't sorted it out yet either  but it's one possible cause for you to check out??

How much float should there be?

cant remember the exact figure but I think its 0.5mm or something like that.

I expect its the cassette and chain, these can often wear without obvious signs.

Put the chain on the big ring and check for:
