I have been offered a a 24" 1/2 " frame . l am trying to find out if it has Lowtrail front end geometry. As l would like to destroy its seductive looks . By claging on a conversion axel . Trikes work better with a low trial. Thanks Colin.

That might be a bit of an ask unless someone here happens to have one. There are plenty of Carlton owners on here though.

Otherwise, it might be best to put a pair of wheels on it (or ask the owner to do it) and take a picture side-on. Then you can decide if it’s going to be right. There’s a pretty good side-on shot here: https://thevelocollective.com/raleigh-carlton-longfellow/

It has a fair bit of rake (curve forwards) in the forks, so it is low trail by today’s standards.

Bit about trail here if you’re not familiar with the geometry etc: https://analogcycles.com/pages/debunking-low-trail

Thanks Jonny69 . The frame is quite a distance away . l normally find the only way ,is like you say stick the wheel and tyres in you are going to use and measure it with a straight edge, steel rule and a stabila level . Claud Butler was spot on with their head angle and fork rake . Carlton is like a secret society .
