So over winter I got the chance to get hold of a frame that had been on my mind for a while, a Canyon Ultimate CF SLX, in my size (L) and in good condition. At the same time I'd been wanting to switch to 11-speed and replace some of the drivetrain on my road bike, so it turned into a full rebuild with all new transmission, new Cero wheelset and some near-new brakes too. I got lucky and managed to source a few NOS Sram Red 22 parts cheaper than usual - couldn't get the WiFli mech so it had to be Force and an Ultegra 11-32 cassette because above that is not sensible for the cost, to get that ratio. Just assembled so I thought I'd better get some pics of it while it's clean...
Pretty much every part has been weighed to the gram, and the actual build weight now it's complete it's 6.3kg (actual weight, inc pedals), and it's built for more comfort than some of the weight weenie options (wide ratio 11-32 cassette as it's going to go up some steep stuff, 25mm GP 4000S II tyres with tubes, 3.2mm thick Lizard Skins tape) so it could well go lighter. I've had my eye on the Tubolito tubes which would save 80g but reviews are mixed.
Full Spec, anyway:
