Campagnolo Shamal Hub

Hi,

I'm currently servicing the bearings of a 1995 pair of Campagnolo Shamal with original hubs.
The oil port rings can be easily turned around and seem to have a very slight play (back and forth not lateral). Other Campy hubs i own have still / non movable oil port rings, so I'm wondering wether this is normal on the Shamals or if it should be fixed ?

Also the axle (though original) seems a bit short : once tightened the cone bolts slide quite deep into the hub and are hard to reach even with a cone wrench.
Any advice on how to tune this properly please ?

Thanks for your help !

Aren't you just supposed to remove the conical outer covers before servicing, in the same way as C Record hubs?

Hi foz,

I've always serviced the bearings without moving the cover - didn't know you were supposed to
On the earlier (1979) Record hubs i checked, the covers are still / static, but on the Shamals they're rotating... Do you how they're supposed to be attached ? Are they threaded ?

Thanks
