Campag Record 151bcd triple chainset…?

It's jusr the casting for a double though with long bolts and spacers carrying the inner ring.

You could do this with any double of the period

I don't like hanging rings off the bolts- they ought to be supported by the crank tabs.

It could well be the only rings to hand, Campag were rather notorious for just whacking whatever bits they had lying around together! It also isn't new so could have been done just in order to sell it, especially if the rings were worn, people probably pay a premium for triple early Campagnolo stuff these days. The box does state '42 52', is 42 the smallest ring in 151?

Yeah, all the genuine Campag Record triples I’ve seen have been threaded through the spider to take the inner ring.
As you say, any double could do this with long bolts and spacers. But why the hell have they…. it’s just bizarre! 🤣

I doubt that it came from the factory as a triple, most likely a triple conversion using longer cyclo-cross chainring bolts for two bash guards and a single ring... then command a massive price tag £££
