cable advice

I'm sure this is frequently asked, but i could find a specific answer so here goes.

Building up a project with XTR m900 on it, can i use the standard shimano cable sets?

I know there are sets of the original grey xtra cables out there, but i specifically want black cables for this build.
Any other suggestions, i'm hoping these work though.

Standard Shimano cables will be fine.

Gear cables are the same for road and MTB, brake cables are different. As long as you get the right brake cables for either road or MTB, you can pretty much use any brand you want. I've used several different brands and haven't noticed much difference between them, the only thing I avoid is the cheap galvanised inner cables, stick to stainless.
