Bring out your multitools....!!!

I used to carry a Leatherman Squirt in my pocket at all time, on and off the bike. I used it daily for all sorts of things until I put it down one day and forgot to pick it up again. I still miss it today!

this thread has reminded me of one I had many many moons ago that I bought in Harry Halls in manchester for a couple of quid. they were in a big jar on the counter. it was like the park thingy but made of aluminium, glued in to it at one end was a 2,3,5,6mm allen and a crosshead driver, the other end had a 10mm ring, a slot head driver and bottle opener. obviously it was anodised pink. :) no idea what happened to that, it went everywhere with me for a while.

anyways, enough remorse, I'm off to find all toy tools I have and take pictures of them. :)

If anyone was wondering what the ‘op in hell we were talking about regarding Opinel - these are they....a fabulous part of French history - carried by all French farmers and orchard owners and woodsman. Just beautifully engineered and refined over many many years. And still readily available. Just wonderful to hold in the hand, to pare off cheese when picnicking, and a thousand other things. Razor sharp, wonderful to behold, and when you use it you feel as though you are part of a tradition of fine tools and a culture which stretches way back in time....

The story is here:

all of those are legal UK carrier too, although the police will still want to know why have it with you.
I have a couple of slip joints like this as well as a fair few ring locked Opinels bought in france. they do a stainless version these days, don't buy it, the carbon steel blades are fantastic. they are one of my favorite tools.

This is retrobike, surely we all have one of these in our local motion saddle bags?

My allen keys have long gone.

Unsurprisingly this is perfect for when out on a retrobike. Modern tools don't have the stuff you need.

What would it be called now? Not ‘cool’ for sure.

I think ‘dope’ or ‘sick’
But I am stuck on providing the alliterative equivalent of ‘cool tool’

Probably ‘sick bit’

The latest Kickstarter tool from Switzerland is the Coworking5 from Daysaver. Expect to mortgage your Klein to pay for one.

Don’t forget the tiny Bahco spanner .... like Opinel, fabulous heritage. The tiny 4inch is the one to carry....

Why do you carry a knife?

I used to carry a penknife in my camelback but I realised I had never used in 20 years. So took it out. Do you ever use it on a bike ride?

I'm a big topeak fan having had an original Alien for many years, but junked it recently when I realised it dod not have some of the tools a modern bike needs.

Got this now:

....bears in the wood....

I only carry an Opinel if I am having bread and cheese. Or doing some hunting for Boletus.
