bottom bracket help needed

removed this from my 2006 trek 4400 today and cant find one the same size anywhere anyone got any ideas what I could replace it with

73 shell 125mm long if I'm reading right ?

124.5mm long

quick search and the T means it has the axle stopper (that black ring) and E means it's for an e-type mech which mounts on the bottom bracket, hence the 73+3)
which makes it a bit harder

124.5 is near enough to a rounded of 125mm version

I saw the one on the vp site but cant find where I buy one. I knew this wasn't going to be a nice easy job

if I got a different front mech that clamps round the seat tube could I use any kind of bb?

you could use a 73-125 one, but you still have to find it.
It may be easier to look for a 127.5 length (a bit wider on the drive side) or if you have 2.5mm to play with on the none drive side then a 122.5 length.


Might just be worth less hassle getting a new crank and bottom bracket setup

that's what I was thinking id like to upgrade to xt stuff but I grudge spending lots of money on a very cheap bike

I'd agree, get a 122 and use a wee spacer on the RH side
