Well yeah, but there's stuff from after 1998 that is retro in its own right, even if not as cool as the 'golden' era, so we should separate newer retro and not-remotely-retro modern stuff.

and by 2098 we will have god knows how many sections, all surplus to the point of the site.

I’m not sure anything needs changing & of course I might be wrong but it always made sense to me that both retro MTB & classic Road sections stopped at the same date 1998 as this seems a reasonable point to place a watershed against all the imported mass produced aluminium stuff etc for both disciplines leaving the 98+ stuff as a catch all for everything else (Like the strap line suggests).
So I’m gonna keep posting my post 98 build threads here until someone deletes them

In the future there might be. Also dedicating the 1998-> forum to post-1997 but ”not modern” bikes might increase the interest to that forum. There are still nice bikes in between…
