Retro Newbie
Eclipse Countryman classic gents touring bike with 24.5" Reynolds 531c frame
Eclipse was the brand name of BikeUK, a highly-regarded bike retailer active in the 80's & 90's. At the time, they were better-specified than the benchmark Dawes Galaxy, with handbuilt frames and wheels and high-end gearsets, etc. I actually had one of these from about 87-97, before I got my current bike. I bought this one a couple of years ago as a stop-gap when my daily bike was damaged in an accident, and instantly felt at home on it.
Although probably around 30 years old, it's in good condition, and fully rideable as-is. You could head out on a tour on it tomorrow. The frame is built from Reynolds 531c (which is the lightweight version of standard 531, and leads me to believe that this example is actually the higher-spec'ed model, the name of which escapes me at the moment)
You could keep it in retro condition (complete with suicide centre-pull brakes, rat-trap clips, etc) or upgrade it with all the latest Shimano Ultegra gear - entirely up to the new owner.
The sole evidence of modern kit is that I have added a Topeak Super Tourist DX Bike Rack which is included in the sale.
Collection is from either Frome, Somerset or Stoke Newington, London (Or I may be able to deliver to points in between)
Looking for £200
