I can't remember seeing a Syncros flip front quill stem for a long, long time. Surely only one or two crossover years from flippy introduction before everything was ahead?

Good point. The hinged system first seems to appear in the 97 catalogue but only in the ahead version..

I sold my NOS stem for a lot more than that. Total bargain. Total regret now.
