Avanti a New Zealand company I'm told licensed the Manitou FS layout for their use. see attached. Anyone know anything about them, maintenance, travel etc?

they may have borrowed the layout, but they did not borrow the Manitou attention to detail, or skills with a CNC machine. Im afraid to say that looks a bit like a £79 Halfords special immitation.

It also appears to have a zip tie through the chain/seat stay pivots - is that kind of like those rear mech breakaway bolts with a zip tie through, so when it breaks theres something holding it together?

Er, perhaps holding a gear cable in place??

Its not a bad frame but not a goody either. But, the way the back end is held together, there is scope for making something nice, bit costly though.

i like it. fair enough it doe3snt look as good as the manitou bit its something different. its probably not cracked either!

Avanti

Avanti make some very high quality bikes and even their low end models are far better quality than you would ever find in a halfords branded bike.
They are maybe not very big here but in NZ, OZ and a lot of south east asia they are known as a good quality brand. I am sure if they went to the trouble of licencing the design they wouldnt build a shit copy.
On a personal note I think the original was a piece of crap so does that mean if the copy is crap that its a faithful copy? ahh conundrums

(grabs his coat after the last sentance as now being hunted by those with no sense of humour ;) )
