Armstrong charged with doping by USADA

Good.

I still don't believe to this day that he could be capable of what he did in the sport clean. A remarkable athlete to be sure but to win against a doped up field as a clean athlete is unfeasible. In my opinion.

When something is endemic in a sport, I feel there may be a case for letting it all go and wiping the slate clean. Seems they were all guilty, and anyone not yet found so is just lucky.

A supreme athlete will always beat doped-athletes, Armstrong didn't just appear from nowhere. Before his cancer diagnosis he was a rising star without focus, i guess the diagnosis made him grow up and realise what he was throwing away.
I'm no Armstrong fanboy as i personally think his supremacy ruined road racing but i don't believe he doped, they mounted countless investigations and always come up with nothing.

Carl Lewis and Ben Johnson? And then Carl Lewis got bust years later.

I genuinely don't believe he could have won all those tours clean.

Tazio, your example is perfect.

There is a long shadow over all sports now, it really is time to just move forward and stop the witch hunt.

I say bring on the third Olympics, the 'modified' class.

If we really want to move on as a species.

I agree with you. Its only going to get worse i expect.

But incorporate it, have it made legal.

It would become part of the technique and such as to what dope they use, most are legal and they get very clever at finding ways to hide them. Sure they still have to train like mad but then they dope and it adds and extra element into the tactics.

May be frowned upon but then it would still be their own choice etc. as long as its not class a or something silly like that.

Sure the idea will have its flaws but it has its positives too.

It's not as black and white as he did or didn't, the rules evolve and the list of banned substances grows year on year.

Why is it acceptable to take something one season and it's not the next?

If it's a witch hunt they'll get him easy.

Lance - like him or not. was a pretty outstanding athelete froma young age.

He would either have had to start doping young or that he's just naturally a bit better.
The fact he was able to ride successfully while suffering from undiagnosed cancer is a testament, let alone the fact he survived and then picked up where he left off.

I'll go with nail trail on this - they will "get" the result that they want regardless.
