What's is this type of tape actually like to use on the road?

The shiny finish always looks like it would be slippy to me.

What's is this type of tape actually like to use on the road?
The shiny finish always looks like it would be slippy to me.

So I'm told the shiny tape was designed so you can sprint faster! and that it can be easily cleaned unlike old cloth tape at the time.

There's no comfort in this tape at all and with wet bare hands you have to grip the bars more, but everyone wore leather track mitts so it was 'safe' :?
