Anyone remember Zack Abely?

In the late 80s and early 90s there was "another" MTB magazine (besides MBUK). It was called Mountain Biker, or Mountain Biker International as I recall.

It had the most bizarre cartoon in it called Zack Abely, but no amount of googling confirms whether this was ever real or if it's just a vivid and disturbing hallucinatory memory.

It wasn't a comedy thing, it was a three-panel serial, continued in each issue, about the adventures of some sort of MTB explorer who wore wrap-around shades and a bunch-o-nanas helmet. In one he found the bones of his mate at the bottom of a canyon, still in his helmet, but I never found out what happened after that.

I hope someone can tell me anything about this strip, as my curiosity and boyhood memories are gnawing at me!

did he get knocked down or something and end up in a coma, and for ages the strip went on with what was going through his head before he regained conciousness

Zack Abley

I do not remember the name...but I remember the cartoon strip.

The geezer was a cycle courier who got knocked down....many issues later he regains conciouness surrounde by his mates in a hospital bed.

I think the crux of it was some kinda drama where he's hanging of a cliff edge...there was some odd lion type guy. Frankly it was all a bit wierd and rubbish comapred to the technicolour days of Mint Sauce going in MBUK at the time!

that was in short lives MTB Mag 'MTB PRO',because some of the characters were animal-based,if i recall?
