I went for a 50 mile ride the other day and I was using schwalbe luganos with puncture protection on my cube roadbike when the rear tyre burst on me I had put the min psi as recommended on the tyre wall(85 psi),but what annoys me is that I only did 600 miles on these tyres surely they should last longer then that? So I bought myself a pair of continental grand Prix 4000 hopefully these should last a while.

Try asking in the road bike section.
But as it isn't..... Yes, I have run these for many thousands of miles on my commuter and winter hack.
Never had a blowout. Only literally one or two flats on these over the last 7 or so years. Get about a couple of thousand miles out of them before they're totally squared of.
Cheap and disposable, not race-bike fodder.
I usually inflate to 110 as then I don't have to pump them up too often (laziness). I pump them when they feel decidedly squishy, which when the joe-blow goes on, seems to be about 80psi.
